Navoramique is a physical interface represented by a laptop with cameras placed on a turnable stand with handles. The project is intended to help the user (or multiple simultaneous users) to achieve an intuitive movement inside a 3D environment by allowing him/her to change the rotation angle of the setup and to lean closer or farther from it to move forward or backward. Regardless of the quality of simulated 3D worlds, people are still conscious of the barrier between them and what they see; this is because they only benefit from a keyboard, mouse or other common input devices. Navoramique tries to thinner this barrier and to give users a natural interaction tool which they can intuitively use to navigate at will. Its name stands for "Navigation Panoramique" and gives the an insight to what it offers: a 360 degree yaw and forward/backward movement possibilities. The concept was also designed to be easily configurable "at home" and to be a low-cost solution.
